About Calypso Enterprises

Calypso Enterprises is an independent Pennsylvania medical marijuana grower/processor based in Erie. We’re committed to patient safety, product consistency, and innovating across premium concentrates and infused products. We operate a compliant, safety-first facility and invest in people who take pride in craftsmanship and continuous improvement.

The Role

We’re hiring an Extraction Technician with hands-on experience across CO₂, hydrocarbon (BHO), and solventless methodologies to produce high-quality concentrates (live resin, sauce, badder, diamonds, distillate, rosin, hash, carts, etc.). You’ll run closed-loop systems, maintain equipment, complete accurate batch documentation, and collaborate with Post-Processing to hit yield, potency, and terpene targets—safely and compliantly.

What You’ll Do

Operate extraction systems:
  • CO₂ (supercritical/subcritical) for crude and fractionation.
  • Hydrocarbon (butane/propane) closed-loop in C1D1 environments.
  • Solventless (ice water hash, mechanical separation, rosin pressing).
Post-processing:
  • Winterization, filtration, solvent recovery, decarb, terpene capture, short-path/wiped-film distillation, crystallization, purge in vacuum ovens; formulate for vapes and other SKUs.
Quality & compliance:
  • Complete batch records, calculate yields, maintain material balances, prepare COAs; follow SOPs/cGMP-style practices; support MJ Freeway data integrity and chain of custody.
Equipment care:
  • Daily start-up/shutdown, changeovers, cleaning, preventative maintenance; assist with troubleshooting (LEL/CO₂ monitors, pumps, chillers, heaters, rotovaps, ovens, centrifuges).
Safety first:
  • Follow lockout/tagout, PPE, hazardous materials handling, spill response; uphold C1D1/C1D2 and ventilation protocols.
Cross-functional teamwork:
  • Coordinate with Cultivation, Post-Harvest, and Packaging to schedule runs, prioritize SKUs, and meet production plans.
Continuous improvement:
  • Help refine SOPs, optimize parameters, and reduce waste while improving throughput and consistency.

What You’ll Bring

  • 1–3+ years in cannabis extraction or a closely related regulated environment (pharma, food, chemical).
  • Demonstrated proficiency with CO₂ and BHO extraction and solventless processes.
  • Working knowledge of closed-loop systems, vacuum ovens, rotovaps, filtration, and distillation.
  • Strong understanding of safety in C1D1 rooms, LEL monitoring, and solvent handling best practices.
  • Detail-oriented documentation skills; basic math for weights, yields, and formulations.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in cold/heat as needed.
  • PA Medical Marijuana program worker permit (or eligibility to obtain upon hire).
  • Experience with live material processing and terpene preservation strategies.
  • Familiarity with MJF or METRC and ERP/manufacturing systems.
  • cGMP/ISO, HACCP, or similar quality frameworks.
  • Mechanical aptitude for pumps, valves, seals, and routine maintenance.
  • Primarily day shift, with occasional evenings/weekends during peak production.
  • Work performed in C1D1/C1D2 hazardous locations, labs, and cold storage areas with required PPE.
  • This is an on-site role at our Erie, PA facility.
  • Competitive hourly wage DOE with overtime eligibility.
  • Health, dental, vision, PTO/holidays, and employee product discounts (where permitted by law).
  • Growth opportunities within a scaling operation.
